Yukon Territory Snowmobile Safari
|
| Whitehorse |
Overview
During the winter time we can snowmobile to remote areas that cannot be reached in summer. During our snowmobile safari we snowmobile along the South Canol road across frozen rivers and lakes covered with a thick blanket of fluffy powder snow. Our base station is a comfortable log cabin from where we undertake daily trips into miles and miles of uninhabited nature. Be amazed by the idyllic winter landscape and step away from all stress of daily life. Being far over 100 kilometers from the next village you will experience a true Yukon winter adventure.

We will drive by van to Johnson's Crossing, the starting point of our tour. From here we snowmobile over 120 km on the South Canol Road and old paths of earlier trappers to a log cabin on Big Salmon Lake.

From our log cabin we take daily tours on our snowmobile. Miles of virgin untracked powder snow awaits to be conquered. Across frozen lakes and rivers, on old trapper paths and the Canol Road we explore the lakes at the headwater of the Big Salmon River, the valley of the Nisutlin River, Sidney Lake and Sidney Creek. In between we have time to try ice-fishing or explore the area with snowshoes. If the weather allows we have the chance to overnight under clear sky or build a snowcave. We may hear coyotes or wolves houling at night, watch the northern lights dancing across the night sky or meet a trapper who is working on this trapline.

Unfortunately our snowmobiling tour comes to an end. On the South Canol Road we snowmobile back to Johnson's Crossing. We venture off in backroads that allows us a last time to drive the snowmobile in deep power snow. From Johnson's Crossing we meet our van and drive back to Whitehorse. For a last time we stay overnight at our downtown hotel.
