Overview
Our base station is located 10 minutes from the Red Mountain Resort. It is a 2.5 hour drive directly north of Spokane, Washington, between Rossland and Castlegar in the southern part of the Monashee Range.
Terrain
The area is known for its legendary snowfall and because we go to even higher elevations, we tend to get even better snow than the ski resort. Our exclusive permit allows us to access about 18,500 acres of awesome terrain, with areas suited to intermediate, advanced, and expert groups. The combination of deep powder snow, some old-growth forest, some large open spaces, and plenty of gladed area allows our guides to find the best powder skiing and riding that will suit your ability level and your powder skiing dreams. We have identified 52 runs so far that allows us to select a terrain that is as safe as possible for different conditions. Our longest run has an 1100-meter vertical and our shortest has a 300-meter vertical, with the average having between a 400-500 meter vertical. Some of these runs are so big that they can be skied over and over again with-out skiing the same line twice.
Most of the terrain that we ski is between 1700 and 2,200 meters (However we can ski as low as 1000 meters if the conditions are good). Trees do not normally grow above about 2300-2400 meters in this part of BC. All of our skiing, is in the area officially called the “Tree Line”. Like all of these operations, we have some big alpine features - but our bread and butter runs are beautifully gladed tree runs.
