Overview
Snowcats, powder skiing, a remote mountain lodge, untracked powder, a hot tub under the stars, great food and fun: what more could you ask from a getaway powder skiing adventure in the mountains of B.C. Canada! Our experienced, certified powder skiing guides will help create your personal snow cat skiing or snowboarding experience... and do it in a safe and exciting manner. With miles of open and tree studded terrain that challenges even the most experienced snow rider, you will discover that "perfect run" over and over, every day on the mountain. No "packed powder" here!
The Monashees are part of the Columbia Mountains. The Columbias are heavily glaciated and have much deeper and safer snowpack than the Rocky Mountains to the east. That is why there are more heli and cat operations in the Columbias than anywhere else in the world. Blessed by phenomenal average annual snowfalls of about 60 feet, BC's Monashee Mountains offer even the highly accomplished skier a wide variety of snow-blanketed terrain. Our reliable and versatile snowcats take you to some of North America's most challenging cat skiing slopes. Both areas (Tsuius | Anstey) are on the "weather" (western) side edge of the Monashee Mountains.
We offer two cat-skiing areas:
Tsuius Area
At Tsuius - we have 66 square kms. (17,000 acres) on Mt. Tsuius - 4,800 vertical feet of peaks and bowls, down through the trees, glades and cut-blocks to the Shuswap River. Above the treeline, we have roads to 5 areas of alpine ridges and peaks, rising to an elevation of 7,800 feet. From Garnet Ridge in the north, to Mimulus Lake in the south, our guests have the sort of variety usually reserved for heli-skiers.
With our lodge located in the centre of the skiing area, our snowcats quickly transport you to the best ski terrain. Below the treeline, we can choose from many treed or naturally-gladed runs descending through the spruce forest into the cedar canopy forest. Cut-blocks like Stumpy's Garden provide open, exhilarating skiing.
Anstey Area
At Anstey - the new terrain is located in the Monashee Range about 50 kms to the north of our existing Tsuius Mountain cat skiing area. The size of approx. 125 square kms. (31,000 acres), will make it one of the largest cat ski operations in existence. We have done many helicopter skiing exploration trips to this new terrain over the past 3 years and it is truly spectacular. The majority of runs are 1,500 - 3,000 vertical feet with one run in excess of 5,000 vertical. Anstey is situated in the same Monashee Rocky Mountain snow-belt as Tsuius.
The lodge elevation is high - there will be a 3,600 vertical foot run below the lodge elevation! The lodge is centrally located within the tenure; this allows us to efficiently utilize this huge area that is unprecede.
Accommodation: The lodge consists of two wings. One wing will house guests and the other wing will house the staff. The central curved area will be the dining room and lounging area. The views are inspiring from the wall of windows that overlook the mountains. Guests will be very comfortable in this new lodge with ensuite plumbing, a full bar and an exercisented in the cat skiing industry.
