Lodge near Whitney, Algonquin Park
|
Nestled amongst the tall, whispering pines and majestic, cascading waters of the Madawaska River lays the very small, intimate country lodge. A place along the boundaries of Algonquin Park for nature enthusiasts, this lodge offers nine log cabins, all with wood burning fireplaces, 6 with extra large double Jacuzzis. Included with your stay is a hearty breakfast and Wilderness Gourmet Dinner, prepared with care and served in our log dining room over looking the flowing waters of the Madawaska River.
Located a 15-minute walk from the picturesque town of Whitney and only 5 kms from the breathtaking and beautiful Algonquin Provincial Park your adventure begins. Here you can enjoy the rugged beauty and tranquility of nature at its best. The Park offers its guests a peek into the natural and manmade history of this great land. Be sure to walk the new Tall Pines Trail, a virgin forest of 70 white pines reaching over 100 feet high.
All our prices include two meals daily in our casual dining room. Start your day off right with a large, generous breakfast, just what you need to set out on a busy day. An exceptional Wilderness Gourmet four-course dinner awaits you in the evening, whether you enjoy it in front of a roaring fire or overlooking the shimmering waters of the river your taste buds will surely be delighted. Activities
Winter at this intimate lodge is an incredible fun experience. Where else, so close to the big city of Toronto, can you go and have such pure white snow to play in. Cross-country ski on one of many trails Algonquin Park has to offer, these trails are amongst the most picturesque any where in Canada. These trails start at the easiest loops for beginners to the more advanced loops for those who dare to be challenged. 50 km in total, and all this at the Leaf Lake Trail entrance, a close 6 km drive just inside Algonquin Park. New this year is a widened 25km loop for ski skating. Algonquin has expanded the Leaf Lake Trail system to accommodate these performance skiers.
Guided dogsledding expeditions are also available. Imagine mushing your own team of four huskies and sledding through the glistening snow covered woods of Algonquin Park as you view spectacular scenery and breathtaking vistas. Our guided horseback riding excursions are also available in the winter to those who are interested.
With hundreds of kilometers of well-groomed trails, snowmobilers will relish the chance to explore the beauty of this area, either on your own or with an experienced guide. A major snowmobile trail passes in front of the lodge on the abandoned railway line.
