|
Individual arrival in Whitehorse and shuttle service to Tagish (1 hr.). There we load your luggage onto our snowmobiles and sleds and drive you across the frozen Tagish Lake to the lodge (1 hr.). We welcome you with a snack and hot drinks and show you the guest cabin. We introduce you to our kennel with a 1-hour training course how to handle dogs and sleds. We harness 3-5 dogs and drive through vast forests for an hour. Learn the meaning of GEE and HAW. Returning to lodge and unharnessing/feeding the dogs before we ourselves are ready for a Yukon-style dinner.

After a hearty breakfast (11 a.m.) we start a trip with our dog teams ( 4-5 dogs/team ) to improve the skills in dog driving. Take pictures and enjoy the scenery as we trot along. We will return to the lodge in the later afternoon. Try snowshoeing, crosscountry skiing or icefishing before we serve you a first-class wilderness dinner at the lodge. You may spot some northern lights after dinner.

Today's is going to be a special day. We show you an abandonned trapper cabin during our 2-hour snowshoe tour. BBQ-lunch with our special roasts along the snowshoe trail. Returning to the lodge before sunset and harnessing your dog team for a night run along the shores of Tagish Lake. Head lights provided. We might spot some aurora borealis or hear the howling of a far wolf pack. Trip will be 2-3 hrs. before we return to lodge for a hearty dinner.

The dogs will a have a full day break to regain strength. You may do some icefishing for lake trout, snowshoe across virgin snow fields or retire in your log cabin to read the stories of Jack London. Before we have dinner we pack our sleds and back packs for the next three exciting days. Dinner at the lodge.

It's the start of our 3-days dogmushing trip. We pack all our gear into sleds and a snowmobile which escorts us during this trip. We harness the huskies and mush down the trails onto the lake towards 'Talaha Bay'. We follow the former mailcarrier route from Carcross to Atlin when mail was delivered by dog teams until airplanes took over in the '30. We still travel the ol' way by dog team and experience one of the last traditional transportation of the Yukon pioneers. After a scenic drive along bays and inlets we finally arrive at our camp site. We then feed the dogs and set-up camp, taking care of our own comforts and enjoy a hearty dinner, cooked over a campfire. Cuddle up in your sleeping bag and enjoy the comfort of a heated walltent.

Let's have some bacon n'eggs for breakfast and we get ready to continue our winter journey along this historic route and watch for wildlife. Moose, caribous or lynx may be seen while we rest or run the dogs. Mnt. Minto will always be in sight and if weather permits we extend our trip on Atlin Lake. A quick lunch keeps our energy flowing and we'll return to our night camp before darkness. Listen to the howling of our huskies before we have some 'grub'. The walltent beckons after this exciting day.

We feed the dogs first, before we have some food ourselves. It also takes some time to take down the camp and pack it into our sleds. We then drive the teams back to the lodge in the afternoon and enjoy the comforts of a true wilderness lodge including sauna, hut tub and hot showers. Jackie our chef welcomes you with a hearty dinner and we are sure the fireplace is lit.

After your breakfast you have to say good-bye to our canine friends. We then drive you back to Tagish with our snowmobiles and dogsleds where you continue your journey to Whitehorse by chartered shuttle.
OPTIONAL: Spend 3 more days at the lodge and continue your stay with 2 more days of dogmushing. We repeat program of Monday and Tuesday. Returning to Whitehorse on Wednesday.
