Overview
In the world of heli-skiing, the northern Cariboo Mountains and the Canadian Rockies are legendary. An abundance of dry powder, immense open bowls, spectacular glacier skiing, and challenging treed slopes are but a few of the attributes these mountains possess.
The Heli-Skiing outfit near Prince George fills a unique niche in the heli-skiing market. We ski with a maximum of 20 guests per week. Keeping our groups intentionally small gives us several advantages. There is less waiting for the helicopter and the pace at which the group wishes to ski can be more easily accommodated, from blistering non-stop descents to leisurely cruise runs.
We understand how important your skiing holiday is to you. The entire team works very hard to ensure your appetite for both culinary delights and deep powder bowls is completely satisfied. We extend a warm invitation to come and share an unforgettable heli-ski vacation. We are a family-run operation and cater to like-minded adventurers. Our guests have come to expect exhilarating helicopter skiing. They also appreciate the comforts of home coupled with delectable dining. By encouraging small groups of visitors, we ensure that everyone experiences a personal and one-of-a-kind adventure. There are no crowds of tourists here. This seems to work well, as our relaxed and down-to-earth environment has earned many repeat visitors.
Terrain / Snow Conditions
We have some brilliant days. That said, snow conditions do vary... from the very best to the very worst. While we are used to spectacular deep powder conditions, we have come to acknowledge that every day in the mountains cannot be the same. In preparing for a visit, you must be willing to accept the possibility of difficult snow conditions. Such conditions could include crust, wind slabbed snow, or heavy snow. We welcome first time heli-skiers and suggest that you be a parallel skier comfortable with skiing most of the black diamond runs at a major ski area. The guides make every effort to choose runs that will suit your ability and interests and will provide instruction for those who wish it.
We ski all types of terrain within our 1500 square mile operating area. Our standard trips include a wide variety of terrain, from open alpine bowls, to treed and gladed runs, and expansive glaciers. Runs vary in length from 1500 - 4000 vertical feet and are between 9000 and 5000 feet in elevation.
Everything here is about a quality experience and safety first. Our pilots are highly experienced in mountain flying, particularly in winter conditions, and are assisted by highly trained engineers. We hold a comprehensive helicopter safety and orientation review at the beginning of each week to give you a general understanding of the machines and safety considerations before heading out to the mountains.
Guides
All of our guides are certified to meet or exceed the qualification requirements of our industry's professional association. They have extensive experience in backcountry skiing, avalanche forecasting and safety. They also have a knowledge of first aid, mountain rescue, and group management skills. Our guides are constantly making assessments and decisions that take into account the safety and comfort of both individual skiers and the group. All skiers must wear avalanche transceivers and you will be trained in their use.
Accommodation
Guests stay in the luxurious private lodge. The ranch style lodge is naturally accented by huge, hand-hewn logs and at every glance it becomes apparent the wilderness surroundings have been an inspiration for the architectural details. Once inside, you will soon realize why so many repeat heli-skiers have come to call the lodge their 'home.' Comfortable bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a spacious games room and lounge, two fireplaces, and a family style dining room contribute to a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Nestled in a gorgeous valley between the Rocky and Cariboo Mountain Ranges, we’ve created a hideaway that operates the way we like to live. We enjoy breathtaking skiing, and after-hours we like to unwind with an open-air jacuzzi or a little relaxation in the sauna. Evening activities can vary from a game of pool, to a beverage or two at the bar. Some simply like to take a little quiet time with a book. Others look to the masasage therapist to work on tired muscles. Regardless of your preference, this is the perfect way to end your day of adventure.
Cuisine
A day of skiing out here can really build an appetite. This is an aspect that we have become known for. We love great food. Our imaginative and wholesome meals are legendary, and can be suited to meet your particular dietary needs.
