A Typical Day
We meet at 7:45 am. The heliskiing shuttle departs daily from Whistler at 8:00 am. Arrive at our base facility located next to the Pemberton Airport at 8:25 am
Next is the outfitting of powder skis, if required. Powder skis enhance any heli-ski experience. Our fleet of powder skis are available for rent at $35 per pair. Now that you are outfitted, its time to divide into groups of four; this is done according to skill level or by request. Your group is introduced to their guide who will take you through the safety briefing and personal transceiver orientation.
After having mastered the use of your personal transceiver, you will be introduced to your pilot who will take you through the helicopter safety orientation. Lift off is approximately 10:00 am. Now it’s time to ski!!
Typically we complete two runs prior to lunch, which is served in the alpine amidst the snow capped mountains and beautiful frozen lakes. After lunch, for those on the “4 run Package” you will complete two more runs. We then return to the base for apres ski, and organize for the shuttle return to Whistler. Those on the “6 run Package” will complete four more runs and then return to the base. Return time of arrival at Whistler is between 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm.
Ski Ability Rating
Our packages are suitable for skiers and riders from expert to intermediate. First-time heli-skiers and heli-boarders are welcome. We generally ski in groups of four, usually divided according to skill level or by request.
Expert No problems on Blue or Black runs. Lots of powder experience, like to ski/ride quickly, rarely falling.
Advanced Been skiing/riding for years, or a lot of days per season. Blue runs are easy and routinely ski Blacks. Enjoy powder and seek it out whenever possible.
Intermediate Confident parallel skier on Blue runs, occasionally ski/board Blacks but not necessarily with a lot of style. Have some experience with different snow conditions and powder.
