Wells Gray Cross Country Ski Tour
 Wells Gray Provincial Park
On this six and seven day trips we explore the vast area of meadows and mountains around the Fight Meadow Chalet. The terrain is very diverse ranging from flat sub-alpine meadows to steep slopes. The emphasis on this trip is education. Fight Meadow is a great place to perfect your telemark skiing and to practise winter route finding and avalanche awareness skills. As the days progress, you will too! When you are ready, the slopes of Battle Mountain and Caribou Ridge await!

Day
Itinerary
01
We meet at your accommodation in Clearwater. After leaving a vehicle at the trail end, we drive to the snocat which is parked eleven kilometers up the Wells Gray Road. After an hour snocat ride, you ski the last three and a half kilometers into Trophy Mountain Chalet. The chalet is located on the southern slopes of the Trophy Mountains at 7000 feet. The skiing from the front door is excellent as the terrain is fairly steep and the snow is deep. Today we take an easy ski to get familiar with the equipment and surrounding area.
2 & 3
Lots of skiing in the Trophy’s, both in the alpine and in the trees, this area has complex terrain with numerous chutes, couloirs, and aspects. We can start with intermediate runs through scattered forest and, if we are up the challenge, continue to progress to more and more challenging slopes. Which ever we choose, we are certain to find some fluffy powder to play in.
04
You traverse up over the Trophy Mountains, then ski the powdery north aspects into the Valley of the Lakes. Here you have lunch and skin up for the ski to the top of Eagle Pass. From Eagle Pass, it is a lovely downhill run into Moul Basin and Table Cabin, which rests at 6,350 feet. Table is a brand new squared log cabin nestled in the wood overlooking a subalpine meadow, This is challenging terrain and the ski will take five to seven hours at a leisurely pace.
05
Incredible skiing on the northern slopes of Table, Discovery, and Trophy Mountains. The hidden Moul valley is known for having powdery slopes well into spring. Each day we choose our favorite slopes to ski and each evening make the downhill run to the cabin’s backdoor for a great supper.
06
We ski up the east flank of Table Mountain. If the day is fine, we make the short trip to the summit for gorgeous views of the Monashees, Cariboos and the northern portion of Wells Gray Park. We now have a downhill ski to the head of the Phillip Lakes where we have lunch. From here we tour through the forest until we reach Phillip Lake and the marked trail. The last portion of our day is down a narrow road that has been groomed, making the trip to the valley bottom at 2400 feet a fast one.
07
Optional Additional Day
On Day 5: We continue the traverse up and over Table Mountain and across Caribou and Fight Meadows to Fight Chalet which sits at the head of a 13km. long subalpine meadow system at 6400 feet. This day will take six to eight hours at a leisurely pace. These beautiful meadows are truly inspiring, high open and surrounded by mountains. Continue with Day 05 & 06 as above.
